Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation Donates Rescue Watercraft And Rescue Board To The City of Carlsbad

Rescue jet-ski crafts are an integral component of lifeguard and water rescue operations.

Carlsbad, California: The Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation announces the donation of a rescue water craft and rescue-board to the city of Carlsbad. These vessels allow for rapid deployment and effective access to the ocean and inland waterways and increase the effectiveness and safety of our personnel in dangerous conditions. The versatility and agility of the craft make them ideal for a program like Carlsbad’s with varying seasonal water conditions and staffing levels. This donation is a major move for the Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation on its mission to continually assist the Carlsbad Fire Department and the City of Carlsbad through supplemental funding, education, community outreach, and scholarships.

The Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation will be unveiling the Rescue Craft at On Tuesday October 4th at 9:00 am at Snug Harbor on Harrison Street with Representative of San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond and a Carlsbad Fire Department Lifeguard Service representative.

This news comes in the wake of recent initiatives and accomplishments of the Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation, including:

  • The Frank Whitton Scholarship Fund: The Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation has awarded over $55,000 in scholarships for department dependents in both vocational and University programs.
  • The Donation of Three Chemical De-Tox Chambers: A staggering 68% of Firefighters will be diagnosed with cancer.  These detox chambers allow firefighters to excrete toxic chemicals from their bodies through the use of medical-grade infrared heating technology while performing mild exercise on a stationary bicycle within the chamber.

“Thank you, Supervisor Desmond for the grant to keep Carlsbad beaches and water ways safe for residents and visitors. The donation is part of CFDF’s ongoing support of our CFD.” says Ray Pearson, Chairman of the Board at Carlsbad Fire Department Foundation.
